Demand Formal Investigation & Transparency of Chrisitan Horner

The Issue

We are calling on the organizers and owners of Formula One, the governing body, and the direct title sponsors and brands behind Oracle Red Bull Racing demand transparency regarding the harassment grievances lodged against team principal, Christian Horner. It is crucial that these allegations and the subsequent investigation be addressed publicly to ensure the integrity of the entertainment and public driven sport and full accountability. Furthermore, we urge Formula One Management in conjunction with the FIA and Formula One to conduct their own comprehensive investigations due to the severity of these accusations and rumors of retaliation.

The brands and organizations include the following:

According to a survey conducted by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), approximately 25-85% of women and 10-20% of men have experienced workplace harassment at some point in their careers.

Many cases of harassment go unreported. Estimates suggest that only 25-30% of workers who experience harassment actually report it to their employers. Fear of retaliation, disbelief, and lack of confidence in the reporting process are common reasons for under-reporting.

We, the undersigned, submit this petition to demand transparency in the investigation of the accusations against Christian Horner. As members of the motorsport community and concerned citizens, we believe that transparency is essential for upholding the integrity of the sport and ensuring that justice is served.

Christian Horner, a prominent figure in Formula One and the team principal of Oracle Red Bull Racing, has been the subject of serious allegations that have raised questions about his conduct and integrity. In light of these allegations, we believe it is imperative that the investigation process be conducted with the utmost transparency and accountability.

We call upon the relevant authorities and ownership to:

  1. Provide regular updates to the public and the motorsport community regarding the progress and findings of the investigation into the accusations against Christian Horner.
  2. Ensure that the investigation is conducted by an independent and impartial body, free from any conflicts of interest.
  3. Guarantee that all parties involved, including Christian Horner and any individuals making accusations against him, are given the opportunity to present their evidence and perspectives in a fair and equitable manner.
  4. Respect the principles of due process and fairness throughout the investigation, including the presumption of innocence until proven guilty.
  5. Take appropriate action based on the outcome of the investigation, ensuring that any disciplinary measures are fair, proportionate, and based on concrete evidence.

We believe that transparency is essential for maintaining the trust and credibility of the sport of Formula One. By providing the public with regular updates and information regarding the investigation, we can ensure that the process is conducted with integrity and fairness.

Due to the slew of rumors, the leaks of corroborated evidence, and the ongoing reports of retaliation via suspension of the alleged victim, we feel as though this process has been mishandled and the parties involved are trying to wait out the storm and, in Christian Horner's own words, "draw a line under it".

Therefore, we urge all stakeholders within the motorsport community, their title sponsors, the regulation bodies, and most importantly the public to support this petition and join us in calling for transparency in the investigation of the accusations against Christian Horner.

We would also like to remind all of the aforementioned companies, organizations, and stakeholders of their commitments and duties to uphold their own company values and stated missions to support diversity, equity, and inclusion per their public corporate websites and pledges. The following involved sponsors, the brand's ownership, and the governing body have made public commitments to uphold these alleged values:

We believe that your intervention, public statements, and commitment to transparency will send a strong message about creating safe working environments free from any potential harassment, discrimination, and provide clear processes to ensure employee safety as well as accountability.

Additionally, we are calling on majority investors of Liberty Media Group and by extension Formula One to assess and invest attention on the seriousness of the allegations of misconduct involved, the uproar it has caused amongst fans and subscribers, and the multiple media reports revolving around Formula One's approach to the matter and lack of direct oversight.

The MLB, the NBA, the NHL, the NFL, and all other various professional sporting associates have codes of ethics, codes of conduct, and direct oversight over their member teams/franchises, their leadership, and ownership. The lack of any such strict mechanism or governance within Formula One is quite concerning and raises the question as to just how serious Formula One and Liberty Media take such matters and the potential for worse to arise. What accountability does Formula One and Liberty Media have over the ambassadors, members, and participants in the sport and what mechanisms are present to uphold the integrity of both the sport and the shareholders and investors? Most importantly, what are employees and members of the teams to do when their own management and leadership dismiss, discard, and suspend them for their speaking out and cries for support?
