The Issue

Over the years, we have witnessed countless scandals and mismanagement of mandatory student fees collected by the Kwantlen Student Association (KSA). Despite handling millions of dollars, there has been absolutely no accountability for these funds. This is not just about financial oversight; it’s about transparency, trust, and the future of students' rights and financial health in British Columbia.

This call for transparency is crucial as it directly affects every student contributing to these fees without a clear understanding of their utilization. Students at universities like Kwantlen Polytechnic University deserve to know exactly how their money is being used, and not just accept stories of wasted funds and mismanagement.

Demand for Forensic Audit

We call for an independent forensic audit of the Kwantlen Student Association’s financial transactions from 2019 onward, covering the periods preceding and including the tenures of current and former Executive Directors Timothii Ragavan and Parveen Sehra, as well as current President Ishant Goyal and past Presidents Armaan Dhillon and Abdullah Randhawa.

This audit will help unveil any misallocations and ensure that student money is rightfully managed going forward.

Legislative Change Proposal

Beyond the KSA audit, we propose a ripple effect of change across all universities in British Columbia. We call upon all BC university students to support an amendment to the BC Societies Act. This amendment should enforce more stringent transparency rules for Student Unions handling mandatory student fees. Alternatively, enable students to make their fees voluntary unless clear accountability and transparency standards are met.

These measures will fortify trust, ensuring students are not at the mercy of questionable financial practices and allowing them to demand answers and accountability.

Join us in this fight for a better future for students in British Columbia. Sign the petition to demand an immediate forensic audit of the KSA and support legislative changes for greater transparency in Student Unions across our province. Together, let's safeguard the integrity of our student bodies and protect the future of quality education in BC. Sign now to make a difference!
