For many, September 29th was an average Tuesday. For countless others, it was the conclusion to a story no one wanted to hear. After weeks and weeks of calls for help, visits, drive by's, unanswered calls, texts, and half-hearted intervention, two of the brightest and most beautiful souls were found deceased. The question on everyone's mind is surely, "how could this happen?" "How did the friends and family not intervene?" Oh, they did. However, after demanding intervention, the father was arrested, family harassed, and friends ignored. Chalked up to another familial dispute gone awry. Zack, a grieving father, was failed by the system. His family was failed by the system. Justine's family was failed by the system. And yes, Justine was also failed by the system. We are asking for a full review via SLED of the breakdown in the processes of all agencies and policies implemented or not implemented by CCSO and DSS.

Sheriff Carl Ritchie will continue to tell the public that he does not believe a SLED investigation is warranted due to his belief of no wrong-doing by the Charleston County Sheriff's Office. I implore you to sign this petition if you believe in a non-biased look at the actions surrounding the CCSO. If you believe that every person, every death, every CHILD deserves a fair assessment. If you believe that there HAS to be a way to protect the children of Charleston and the nation. The fact that the sheriff can stand up in front of a crowd and confidently say that he believes there was no wrong doing while two little girls get prepared to be laid to rest should tell you enough. How is it that the only person who can request an outside investigation is the person on the inside of everything. The truth will ALWAYS come out. And it's coming...
