THIS FRIDAY 9AM - WE NEED YOU!

A CALL TO ACTION - WE NEED YOU THIS FRIDAY!
PROTEST THIS FRIDAY — JULY 31 AT 9:00 AM
IT'S TIME FOR US TO COME TOGETHER. We only need 30–45 minutes of your time.
This Friday morning, we are asking parents, caregivers and children to join us in person at our school and send a clear message to the Board:
WE DEMAND TRANSPARENCY.
WE DEMAND ACCOUNTABILITY.
WE DEMAND RESPONSIBLE STEWARDSHIP OF PUBLIC FUNDS.
WE DEMAND MEANINGFUL, LONG-TERM INVESTMENT IN OUR CHILDREN AND OUR COMMUNITY.
We know everyone is busy—with work, family, summer plans and everyday life. But if we want to give this everything we can, Friday morning may be our last opportunity to make a powerful public statement before this project moves forward.
Over the past several weeks, parents have written letters, asked questions, signed the petition, requested meetings and pushed for answers. We have gained momentum. Now we need to show up.
It is about transparency, accountability and how public funds intended to benefit our children are managed. We believe those funds should be directed toward creating lasting opportunities for our children's physical activity, development and well-being—not unnecessarily lost because of last-minute changes to a project already underway.
Ontario taxpayers, you and I have funded this investment. Our community has every right to ask how that money is being spent and whether the decisions being made deliver the greatest long-term benefit to students and the community.
NOW IT'S TIME TO PUT BOOTS ON THE GROUND.
Come with your children. Come with caregivers. Bring a sign. Bring your voice.
MEDIA WILL BE THERE TO CAPTURE OUR COMMUNITY STANDING TOGETHER.
FRIDAY, JULY 31 @ 9:00 AM
AT OUR SCHOOL - 98 ESSEX ST, TORONTO
This is our moment to stand together and be heard.
ONE COMMUNITY. ONE GOAL. OUR CHILDREN'S POTENTIAL.
Now to update you on the latest actions:
1. PRESS RELEASE TO THE MEDIA:
On Sunday a Press Release was sent to the top French and English news outlets. On Monday morning I gave an interview to RADIO-CANADA at the schoolyard. The journalist had a great interest in the story and has contacted other parents as well as members of the neighborhood community to comment. Radio-Canada is CBC’s French-language public broadcaster and operates across television, radio, digital news, and the 24-hour news network ICI RDI.
The story came out this evening and can be viewed here. https://ici.radio-canada.ca/info/videos/1-10724230/a-ecole-sacre-coeur-toronto-un-changement-decision-fait-sourciller
2. ARTICLE - How A School Board Could Be Doing More for Their Students: The Lost Opportunity at Sacré-Coeur de Toronto, by Livio Nichilo https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1BUUGJC3rp/
The article written by Livio Nichilo has been shared with the parents in the community and beyond and has generated an open conversation about the mismanaged public funds project by the Board and the opportunity that was lost by our students. Please READ, SHARE and COMMENT.
The article has been also shared with the Trustees Nathalie Dufour-Séguin (West), Rhea Dechaine (East) and the Media.
3. TRUSTEE:
On Sunday, an email went out to our Trustee Nathalie Dufour-Séguin expressing our surprise why she has not contacted the parents nor has she commented on this situation, although she has been copied on all the communication going out to the Superintendent Marc Arseneau and the Director or Education Nicole Mollot. In the email to her we have informed her of the additional steps we have taken thus far (FOI filing with the Board, Media outreach, Article). We have asked her to inform us of what she knows about the project, why it changed scope, what she has done to obtain answers and ensure that the public funds are spent as they were intended to be spent as well as to represent the interests of the children. We have asked her to meet with the parents to answer to us since the Board has rejected our invitation. She replied to us saying that she sees no value in meeting with us and that the school board is advancing with the project in order to be ready for the return of the children.
4. PROTEST THIS FRIDAY - JULY 31st at 9AM.
We count on you. Let's give voice to our children.
Please email me to let me know if you will be coming @ yelena.nichilo@gmail.com
Looking forward to seeing you and your children this Friday.
