As someone who works closely with emerging and struggling Indie authors, I've seen firsthand the joy that their work brings to readers. Yet, this joy is being overshadowed by a disheartening reality - these authors are not receiving fair compensation for their hard work. Currently, Amazon pays authors a mere $0.45 per page turned. This rate is crippling for new and independent authors who do not yet have a large following.

Many of these talented individuals pour their heart and soul into creating stories that entertain, educate, and inspire us. They invest countless hours in drafting, revising, editing – quite literally putting in blood, sweat and tears into their craft only to receive less than what can be considered as a living wage.

This unfair pay structure has led many authors to stop writing or pull their books from the platform altogether because it simply isn't worth it financially. We cannot stand by while this creative industry suffers such an injustice.

We call upon Amazon to reassess its payment structure for all authors selling books through its company. It's time they recognize the value of these creators' work and provide them with fair compensation that reflects the effort put into each page turned by readers worldwide.
