Demand Facebook to Remove Disturbing Animal Cruelty Videos
The Issue
As someone who is a simple person not an animal activist or vegan activist fighting for the rights of the animals, having influence on a million of people, I find myself deeply disturbed by a video that has been circulating on Facebook. This video graphically depicts the last few seconds of a small creature's life as it crawls from a bowl and into a pan of hot oil. The creature should not be alive when enter that pan. The individual who filmed this could have chosen not to post it, or even saved the animal's life if necessary. Instead, they chose to share this disturbing content. But there are more similar videos like the one I just described.
Lately I feel like I can't use this platform any longer because of its violent content spamming around. I have reported this video numerous times out of sheer exhaustion and frustration at its continued presence on the platform. Despite my efforts, Facebook has taken no action against this sensitive content. This is not just about me; millions of users are potentially exposed to such distressing material every day.
An additional instance of animal abuse that comes to mind is when an adult male attempts to plant a kiss on a snake. The animal reacted. As everyone knows, humans are the only animals that can eat snakes.
We've all seen the movies of cats running away from cucumbers. Will it be the last thing we do for our cats?
Due to some grownup idiotic prank, numerous other domestic animals, such as dogs, or even wild animals, are shown dozing down pleasantly on camera, but only for a little period of time. A huge toy or a loud noise that momentarily gives the impression that the real animal is attacking it can frighten it. It enrages me, and reporting it is insufficient.
Animals can be harsh to one another even if they eat each other. Why would someone go so far to record something and then make it available to the public? Animals fight all the time; why do we watch them on camera and not step in to stop them from hurting each other?
It's terrible to make a film of a duck being cared for like a pet and then to show it ready to be cooked. That's just not what I expected.
Even if it's not the height of animal cruelty, I believe we should fight the fools who feed wild creatures like bears and document the fight for everyone to see. The animals will become indifferent to the ignorant, stupid humans and will be able to attack them till they die. The bears claimed the lives of a great number of domestic animals in addition to humans. As they approached the houses and towns, they began looking through the trash for food because they had heard that there was food there previously.
According to data from Statista in 2020, there are over 2.8 billion monthly active users on Facebook worldwide - imagine how many people might be unintentionally subjected to such horrifying content? It's time for us all to take action against such insensitivity towards animals and demand that Facebook remove these types of videos immediately.
Here are some examples of decent videos I would love to see more on FaceBook. One animal helping another is not surprising, animal world is far more intelligent that some humans want to believe. Save them, take them to the vet, feed them. Or just leave them alone but don't harm them.
Please sign this petition and join me in urging Facebook to take immediate action against graphic animal cruelty videos like these!
Brief update as of 9/6/24 I am so appreciative of everyone who signed my petition! It had no views or signs for more than a month, but I'm glad I kept it open. I merely wanted to take action against this sensitive information on Facebook that somewhat upset me; there's no need to chip in or donate anything. It's unfortunate that we continue to sign these petitions and that nothing seems to be changing, as someone mentioned in the comments. Sadly, I find myself in the same situation. Once again, thank you, and have a wonderful day!
