The Issue

I am a former employee of CVS and Walgreens, two companies that have been accused of not adhering to the law regarding Sunday overtime pay. This issue is deeply personal to me as it has led to wage complaints being filed against these corporations. It's time we address this injustice.

In Rhode Island, Title 25-3 provides certain exemptions that allow some workers not to receive the same pay on Sundays as those who are non-exempt. This discrepancy particularly affects essential workers, many of whom work tirelessly on Sundays and deserve equal compensation for their efforts.

CVS has been exploiting a loophole in the law by using the health care exemption, even though it appears this provision was not intended for retail pharmacies. This misuse of legislation is unjust and needs immediate rectification.

It's crucial that we remove all exemptions from Title 25-3 so all employees who contribute significantly towards our society receive equal pay on Sundays - no exceptions! By doing so, we can ensure fair treatment for all workers in Rhode Island.

We urge our state senators and representatives to take immediate action on this matter. Please sign this petition if you believe in equal pay rights for all hardworking individuals in our state!
