Demand Equal Rights to Record Calls for Quality Purposes

Demand Equal Rights to Record Calls for Quality Purposes
The Issue
I am a regular citizen, like many of you, who often finds themselves on the phone with businesses, organizations, and government entities. Every time I make a call, I hear the same message: "This call is being recorded for quality and training purposes." We are expected to accept this without question or risk not receiving the services we need! However, when we ask to record the conversation as well—for our own quality assurance—we're told that we can't! This is an unfair practice that needs to change.
Currently in the United States, recording laws vary by state. Some states require two-party consent while others only require one-party consent (National Conference of State Legislatures). Yet when it comes to companies recording us for their benefit—regardless of our location—they face no such restrictions.
We believe that if a company or organization has the right to record us for their purposes—quality assurance or otherwise—we should have an equal right to record as well. This would ensure transparency and accountability on both sides of any interaction.
It's time we demand equal rights in this regard. Let's push for legislation that ensures if one party is recording a conversation for quality purposes, all parties involved have an equivalent right regardless of their location.
Please sign this petition today and help us advocate for fairer communication practices across all states!
