Demand Equal Pay and Benefits for New Rochelle School District Hourly Employees Working FT

Demand Equal Pay and Benefits for New Rochelle School District Hourly Employees Working FT
The Issue
We are concerned employees of the New Rochelle School District. We undertake the same responsibilities as many other school employees but we are not compensated justly for our hard work. We do not receive holiday pay, paid time off (PTO), compensation during school breaks, or on days when there are school closures of which are standard for other employees within the district. Our role is crucial to the day-to-day operations of our schools.
When we first requested a raise, we were told we were lucky to have jobs. When we persisted, the raise we received amounted to only a few cents per hour. We have also requested holiday pay and paid time off to support our work-life balance and well-being, but no response has been provided.
This lack of fair compensation and acknowledgment of our efforts has left many of us feeling undervalued and struggling to make ends meet.
This situation is not only demoralizing but unjust. We share the same hours, the same work, and, at times, even go beyond our duties as salary based employees, and yet, the school district fails to recognize our worth and hard work. It's time we make a change, for ourselves and for all lunch monitors, student aides and other full-time employees contracted as hourly, who find themselves in the same circumstances.
We are requesting the New Rochelle School District to review and amend its pay structure by providing us with holiday pay, PTO, and pay during school breaks to reflect our contributions accurately. Furthermore, we advocate for our positions to be converted into salaried positions, as is the norm for other educators and workers in the district. There are others whom receive accumulated PTOs.
By signing this petition, you're helping to demand equitable compensation for Lunch Monitors and Student Aides in the New Rochelle School District. A fair society begins with fair compensation for all workers. Stand with us. Sign this petition today.
