Demand emergency response for Sibolga flood victims
Masalahnya
My heart is heavy as I write this. It has been five days since I last heard from my elderly parents, who are trapped in the midst of the recent flooding disaster in Sibolga, Indonesia.
This catastrophe has left our beloved city in complete despair, with a total blackout rendering us without electricity, communication, or internet. We are in the dark, both literally and figuratively, about the well-being and whereabouts of our loved ones.
The pain of uncertainty is unbearable, and I am not alone in this suffering. Many others in Sibolga share the same heartache, anxiously awaiting word on the safety of their families. Yet, in these crucial days, there has been no official confirmation from the central government or local authorities regarding the evacuation efforts or an official list of those who have been rescued. Our community is left in limbo, struggling to find hope in the absence of information.
Beyond the emotional toll, the lack of basic necessities exacerbates our plight. We are in dire need of clean water, sufficient food supplies, dry clothing, and security to prevent lawlessness from taking hold. As desperation mounts, isolated incidents of looting underscore the urgent need for intervention and support.
We demand immediate action from the Indonesian government and relevant authorities. There must be a coordinated and transparent response to provide relief and restore communication with the affected areas. Essential resources must be dispatched to ensure food, water, and proper shelter for the displaced. We also urge the authorities to provide a comprehensive list of rescued individuals and a structured plan for ongoing rescue operations.
This is a plea for humanity, for the dignity and safety of the people of Sibolga. Our voices need to be heard, and our suffering must not be ignored. Please join us in urging the responsible authorities to act swiftly and definitively to alleviate this crisis.
Sign this petition and stand with us in demanding urgent responses for the flood victims of Sibolga, Indonesia. Let's make sure our voices resonate and reach those who have the power to make a difference.
