Demand eBay to Reinstate Negative Feedback for Buyers

The Issue

As a long-time seller on eBay, I've experienced firsthand the importance of feedback in maintaining a healthy and fair marketplace. However, the current system is skewed against sellers as we are unable to leave negative feedback for buyers. This policy leaves us vulnerable to unscrupulous buyers who can exploit this loophole with impunity.

In 2008, eBay decided to remove the option for sellers to leave negative or neutral feedback for buyers. This decision was made under the guise of creating a more positive environment but has instead created an imbalance of power that threatens our livelihoods.

According to eCommerce Bytes, since this change was implemented, many sellers have reported an increase in buyer scams and fraudulent returns. The lack of accountability allows some buyers to act without fear of repercussions - damaging our businesses and undermining trust within the community.

We understand that eBay wants its platform to be user-friendly for both parties involved in transactions. However, by not allowing sellers any form of protection against dishonest practices from buyers, they are neglecting their responsibility towards a significant portion of their user base.

We urge eBay management team and stakeholders alike - reinstate negative feedback for buyers as part of basic seller protection measures on your platform. It's time we levelled the playing field and restored fairness in transactions on eBay.

Please sign this petition if you believe that all users should be held accountable for their actions on online marketplaces like eBay.
