Every year, devastating floods sweep through Pakistan, destroying homes, lives, and livelihoods—often without warning. Thousands of families are caught off guard in the dead of night, with no time to escape. In 2022 alone, floods displaced millions and caused unimaginable suffering.

We demand the government of Pakistan immediately prioritize the implementation of an Early Flood Warning System—a reliable and timely solution that can warn citizens via SMS, local broadcasts, and sirens before floodwaters strike.

This system will:

• Connect with national and provincial agencies already issuing flood alerts
• Deliver real-time flood warnings to citizens via SMS, public speakers, and local announcements
• Ensure communities are aware and have time to act before disaster hits

Such a system was piloted successfully in Faisalabad in 2014 but discontinued. With rising climate threats, it is urgent and necessary to revive and scale this technology nationwide.

We urge the Prime Minister, NDMA, and all provincial governments to act now—before the next disaster strikes.
