Demand Dorset and BCP Councils Divest from Companies Complicit in Genocide in Gaza!
The Issue
Dorset Palestine Solidarity Campaign and Bournemouth Palestine Solidarity Movement are calling on Dorset Council and Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Council (BCP) to divest from companies complicit in genocide in Gaza and gross breaches of international law.
Dorset Pension Fund complicit investments total over £173 million across 71companies. These include companies that supply components for combat aircraft, bombs, drones and F-35 jets and cluster bombs used against civilians, and in the systematic destruction of residential buildings, hospitals, schools, and shelters for the displaced.
Over 62,000 Palestinians have been killed and over 14,000 are missing,
presumed dead. Almost all Gaza’s homes have been damaged or destroyed. Crimes against humanity include the targeted killing of aid workers, journalists, doctors and health workers.
Billions of pounds are funnelled globally through pension funds into companies involved in war crimes and apartheid policies. It is our responsibility, here in Dorset, to ensure that our funds are not part of this cycle. 10 councils have voted to divest from companies complicit in the arms trade and violations of international law, including arms manufacturers complicit in the genocide in Gaza, and companies operating from illegal Israeli settlements.
Such complicity contravenes ethical investment principles and the values of justice and equality that our communities stand for.
Join us in taking a stand against complicity in genocide, crimes against
humanity and violations of international law. We call on our councils to act with conscience and integrity.
Sign this petition and stand with the people of Palestine. Let’s put an end to complicit financial investments made in our name.
Your signature can contribute to the growing movement to stop Britain’s arms supplies to Israel and all complicit investments. Let's make a difference today.
