Demand Derby City Council Improve Bus Lane Restriction Signage on Corporation Street

Demand Derby City Council Improve Bus Lane Restriction Signage on Corporation Street
The Issue
In raising this petition, I represent not only my personal frustration, I echo the sentiments of countless Derby residents and surrounding areas who have experienced the same. Money is extremely tight for many of us. As a universal credit claimant and carer for my disabled son and daughter, I am all too aware of the financial strain a loose system can cause. So, it's not simply about the inconvenience of the arguably inadequate signage and road markings on the approach roads to Corporation Street in Derby. It’s about the 50,000 plus fines in one year the Derby City Council has doled out in a or on the pretext reducing traffic in the area.
There is a lack of flexibility and understanding shown towards the members of the public like myself, who find themselves penalized through unclear signage- this creates a feeling of unreasonable authority overreach. It's clear to us, that this situation isn't right and there's a need for dialogue between the council and the community it serves.
We, the petitioners, demand that Derby City Council takes immediate action to improve the bus lane restriction signage and road markings on the approach roads to Corporation Street in Derby. This is more than a request for clarity, it's a plea for fair governance. As the council set on a path to reduce traffic, let it also set on a path to reduce the stress and financial burden on its constituents by providing effective and efficient signage that we deserve.
Stand with us in the fight for clarity and fairness. We urge you to sign this petition.
