Demand CSUSB's Campus Closure due to Unhealthy Air Quality from the Line Fire
The Issue
As a student of California State University, San Bernardino (CSUSB), I am deeply concerned about the current health risks posed to students and staff due to the line fire's impact on air quality on campus. The fire continues to emit smoke and harmful particulates, drastically reducing air quality levels, thereby creating hazardous conditions for people on campus.
This fire has brought with it a surge of potential health effects, most notably to those with pre-existing respiratory issues, adding a layer of danger on top of an already dangerous situation. As per the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), exposure to such particles can cause respiratory symptoms and aggravate lung and heart conditions.
It's distressing that amidst these severe conditions, the campus remains open, forcing students and faculty members to risk their health. We should not have to choose between our health and our education. Safe and quality education should not involve risking your wellbeing.
It's high time that CSUSB administrators take our health concerns seriously. We demand that the campus be closed immediately, until such a time when the air quality has significantly improved, thus providing a safe environment for students and faculty alike.
Join us in urging the CSUSB administration to prioritize the health and well-being of their community over other considerations. Sign the petition today.
