The Issue

In the ongoing genocide in Gaza, a staggering and heartbreaking reality confronts us: every ten minutes, a Palestinian child is murdered by Israel. As concerned voters, we are compelled to voice our outrage and demand immediate action. Led by Mohammad Mustafa, we are reaching out to Congressman Greg Landsman to support an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and promptly meet with his constituents.

Our community has experienced what feels like a blatant disregard from Congressman Landsman's office, particularly in light of the Gaza crisis. Despite more than 2,300 attempts in a week to engage with his office, including efforts to reschedule a canceled town hall meeting, we have been met with silence. The cancellation, seemingly influenced by an unwillingness to hear pro-Palestinian voices, is seen not just as dismissive but as a part of a larger pattern of silencing those who speak out against Israeli occupation and genocide.

The actions, or rather the inaction, of Congressman Landsman, starkly contrast with the shifting public sentiment. Reports by US News and a Reuters/Ipsos poll show that 68% believe Israel should call a ceasefire and negotiate. This growing public support against the Israeli occupation's violence in Gaza is not reflected in Congressman Landsman's stance, which is increasingly at odds with the views of his constituents.

We demand Congressman Landsman’s prompt and clear support for a permanent and immediate ceasefire in Gaza. This genocide, having claimed over 21,000 Palestinian lives, cannot be overlooked as a mere geopolitical issue; it is a matter of preventing further loss of innocent lives in what is being exposed as a targeted and systemic ethnic cleansing campaign by Israel in Gaza. Furthermore, Congressman Landsman’s lack of support for critical voices in Congress, such as Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib, raises serious concerns about his commitment to representing diverse perspectives and interests. Congressman Landsman's decision to censure Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib, and support the allocation of American tax dollars toward the Israeli occupation is in direct opposition to our community's interests. This is not just infuriating; it is fundamentally unacceptable.

We are united in our grave disappointment with Landsman's stance on the Palestinian cause and hereby pledge to withdraw all support from his campaign until we witness a genuine change in his position, and our demands are met without compromise or delay.

1.) Immediate Ceasefire in Gaza: Your passivity and silence concerning the ongoing turmoil in Gaza are indefensible. We demand your immediate support for a permanent ceasefire. Anything less will be viewed as a blatant and egregious neglect of human life and an endorsement of genocide.

2.) End Military Funding to Israel: The continuous flow of American military funding to Israel, under your watch, is intolerable. This funding must cease immediately, as it contributes to the suffering and oppression of the Palestinian people.

3.) End the Gaza Blockade: The illegal blockade on Gaza is a humanitarian catastrophe. We insist on its immediate lifting. Your failure to act on this matter makes you complicit in this humanitarian crisis.

4.) Mandatory Meeting with Constituents: Your disregard for repeated attempts by us, your constituents, to engage with you is a dereliction of your duty. We demand an immediate face-to-face meeting to discuss these urgent matters. Failure to do so will be taken as a sign of disrespect and indifference to the voices you were elected to represent.

This petition serves as a final call for Congressman Landsman to respond to the gravity of this situation. The upcoming election in 2025 will be a referendum on his actions during these pivotal moments. Our continued support hinges on his willingness to confront this issue head-on. Failure to meet our demands will result in a decisive withdrawal of our support.

We urge all who stand against the ongoing genocide in Gaza and seek a representative who will courageously address these atrocities to sign this petition. It is time for Congressman Landsman to step up, advocate for an immediate ceasefire, and engage in a transparent dialogue with his constituents.
