Demand compensation for persistent hot water issues
The Issue
For the entirety of this fall semester, many of us living on-campus have been grappling with frustrating hot water pressure and temperature issues. It has not only disrupted our daily routines but has also placed an unfair burden as we continue to pay full housing fees for a service that has been less than satisfactory. It's time for us to stand up for our rights and demand compensation for these inconveniences.
The problems with hot water have been consistent and ongoing, affecting countless students in our community. Despite numerous maintenance works, the situation remains unresolved. We've endured cold showers, inconsistent water temperature, and at times, complete outages. Not only has this impacted our comfort and wellbeing, but it also goes against the expectations and promises laid out in our housing agreements.
According to our housing contract, we are entitled to a fully functional living space, which includes "heat, water, and electricity" as explicitly stated in the University Obligations section of the Residence Hall Housing and Dining Agreement. Despite this contractual obligation, we find ourselves continuously neglected. Housing fees are not just major financial commitments for students and their families but also an implicit understanding that we will be provided with the basics required for daily life, including consistent hot water.
We urge the university administration to acknowledge the severity of these issues and take immediate action to rectify them. Until the situation is fully resolved, those affected must receive appropriate compensation, reflecting the prolonged inconveniences and inadequacies experienced.
Join us in holding the responsible parties accountable and ensuring that our living conditions meet the standards and quality we are paying for. Please sign this petition to demand fair treatment and compensation for the persistent hot water issues plaguing our community.
