In April of 2024, someone from Eastern Suffolk BOCES communicated to RASi that the school district would be working on their search for a new Superintendent.

Over the summer, Riverhead RASi was discouraged because we had not seen any announcements of search committee meetings, nor any public surveys, nor requests for input coming from the school board.

So, at the September 10, 2024 Riverhead Central School Board Meeting, RASi Coordinator Kimberly Wilder inquired of the board about the search. 

It was recently announced that Eastern Suffolk BOCES and the school board had their first, introductory meeting to set up the Superintendent search on October 15, 2024.

So, the process is started. And, it appears that RASi may have given the process a nudge to get started sooner rather than later.

More importantly...Please see how you can get involved in the process.

David Wicks of Eastern Suffolk BOCES will be the point person for the search. There will be a community survey (which RASi will try to link to here when it comes out.) There will be a process for community stakeholders to be chosen to meet with Mr. Wicks for listening sessions related to community needs.

RASi is hopeful that internal school committees, the unions, and/or PTO groups will have ways to give input into the hiring and/or interview and/or decision-making process in various ways. Where do you fit in?

Another important development is that a callout for candidates will be made asap (perhaps as early as this Monday 11/18/2024.) By working with Eastern Suffolk BOCES, this important leadership/job opportunity will be specifically advertised among a wide range of groups, including BOCES lists, statewide administrative organizations, and groups such as The Long Island Latino Teachers Association and The Long Island Black Educators Association.
