Demand clean air for Panjabari,Guwahati residents Stop Harmful Emissions from Purabi Dairy
The Issue
We, the residents of Panjabari area, Guwahati, are facing severe health and environmental issues due to the emissions and waste discharge from Purabi Dairy, located on Panjabari Road.
The plant, which produces milk, curd, butter, ghee, ice cream, and other dairy products, is releasing foul-smelling gases and waste materials that:
Cause eye irritation, rashes, and respiratory discomfort among residents.
Create persistent foul odors that make daily living unbearable.
Contribute to declining air quality and environmental degradation in our locality.
Scientific evidence shows that dairy plants can release harmful gases such as ammonia and hydrogen sulfide, which are known to cause eye and skin irritation, headaches, and respiratory problems.
We are not against industry or progress. We respect Purabi Dairy’s contribution to Assam’s economy. But no company should compromise the health of its neighbors. Proper waste treatment and emission control are mandatory, and we demand accountability.
We strongly believe that Purabi Dairy’s waste management and effluent treatment systems are not functioning properly, leading to these harmful emissions.
Our Demands:
Immediate inspection of Purabi Dairy by the Assam Pollution Control Board.
Strict enforcement of environmental and safety regulations.
Implementation of proper waste treatment and emission control measures.
Transparent reporting of compliance status to the public.
Why This Matters:
The health and well-being of Panjabari residents are at stake. Clean air is a fundamental right, and no community should suffer due to industrial negligence.
We urge the Assam Pollution Control Board and relevant authorities to take urgent action to safeguard our health and environment.
Sign this petition to demand accountability and clean air for Panjabari.
