Dear Petition Supporters,

We appreciate your overwhelming support demonstrated through our petition. It is with regret that we inform you of Councilwoman Diana Romero Campbell's decision not to comply with our demand to convert the Embassy Suites, aka Tamarac Shelter, into a resource that would benefit our community. This outcome is deeply disappointing, especially considering the potential positive impact such a conversion could have had on our neighborhood. Unfortunately, what is in store for the building (permanent supportive housing) will erode the community's vibrance over the long term so it's important we continue to fight for our community's best interest. It is disheartening to see that Councilwoman Diana Romero Campbell has shown a blatant disregard for the voices of her constituents, such as when she ignored our petition, and a concerning disconnect from the needs of our community, as evidenced by her decision not to advocate for the conversion of the Embassy Suites. Her behavior reflects a failure to prioritize the well-being and interests of those she was elected to serve.

While this is a setback, it is crucial that we do not lose hope or momentum in our efforts to advocate for what is best for our community. Your voices and your votes are powerful tools for change. The upcoming elections are a critical opportunity for us to elect representatives who truly understand and are committed to addressing the needs of our neighborhood.

Here are some steps you can take to continue advocating for our community:

• Engage with Representatives: Contact your local representatives to express your concerns and ask them to prioritize our community's needs.
