Great news! On Thursday, the City Council introduced an ordinance to transfer animal control operations from KC Pet Project back to the city’s Neighborhood Services Department. We want to thank the City Manager for taking this important step!
Now, we need your voices! Tomorrow morning is a critical budget meeting, and the entire City Council will be there to listen. This is our opportunity to speak up for insourcing animal control and ensure Kansas City enforces its animal welfare ordinances properly.
🔹 Why This Matters:
KC Pet Project has been receiving about $2.5 million from the city for the animal control contract without properly enforcing ordinances—neglect, cruelty cases, and transparency issues have been ongoing. The city needs to take back control to hold people accountable, enforce mandatory spay/neuter laws, and truly protect Kansas City’s animals.
🔹 How You Can Help:
Each person will have 2 minutes to speak. If you care about animal welfare in Kansas City, please show up and make your voice heard!
📅 Meeting Details:
📍 Saturday, March 1 | 9:00 a.m. – Noon
📍 Goppert Performing Arts Center, Avila University
📍 11901 Wornall Rd, Kansas City, MO 64145
⚠️ Important: Council members will leave once all signed-up speakers have spoken, so try to arrive by 9:00 a.m. to ensure you get a chance to speak!
Kansas City’s animals need us—let’s stand up for them! See you tomorrow! 🐾💙
