🛑 Demand Basic Civic Amenities in Undri, Mohammadwadi & NIBM Annexe – Resident TaxPayers
The Issue
To:
Honorable Commissioner, Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC)
Urban Development Department, Government of Maharashtra
Subject: Immediate Provision of Basic Civic Amenities and Water Supply Infrastructure in Undri, Mohammadwadi, NIBM Annexe & Pisoli
We, the residents of Undri, Mohammadwadi, NIBM Annexe & Pisoli are voicing our collective concern over the severe lack of basic civic services and infrastructure in our neighborhoods—even after seven years under the jurisdiction of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC).
Since the merger in October 2017, residents have consistently paid property taxes, but in return, we continue to face:
🚱 Absence of Development Plan since 2017
🚱 No Water Supply Pipeline Network – with many relying on expensive private water tankers
🛣️ Dilapidated roads - many of the roads are private roads, pose safety risks for commuters, pedestrians, and children
🌃 Non-functional or absent street lighting – leading to crime and accidents
🗑️ Irregular garbage collection – resulting in unhygienic and unsafe living conditions
🚫 No Civic Amenities – including Parks, PMC clinics, or public halls
🧱 No structured Development Plan for these fast-growing localities
🚫 No Sewage and Strom Water Pipelines in Undri locations
A Deepening Water Crisis
As a resident of Undri and an active member of the Mohammadwadi-Undri Residents Welfare Development Foundation, I am particularly alarmed by the ongoing water crisis we face daily. Despite our proximity to the Khadakwasla dam, we are forced to buy water just to meet our basic needs.
Over the past three years, vast volumes of water have been released and wasted instead of being used for local supply:
💧 2023: 1.10 TMC released
💧 2024: Approx. 35,000 cusecs
💧 2025 (so far): Approx. 20,000 cusecs
It is both heartbreaking and frustrating to watch this precious resource flow away while our homes run dry. A well-planned and implemented water pipeline network could solve this crisis and drastically improve the lives of thousands of families.
We are not asking for charity. We are demanding:
- Responsible governance
- Equitable infrastructure
- Access to clean, sustainable water—a basic human right
- This issue is not just logistical—it’s deeply personal. It affects our health, our children’s future, and our dignity as citizens of Pune.
We Demand Immediate Action:
- Publish and implement a Development Plan for Undri, Mohammadwadi & NIBM Annexe
- Develop a sustainable Water Supply Pipeline Network
- Ensure basic infrastructure:
- Private Roads to be taken over by PMC and maintained them
- Street Lights are missing on 50% of the locations
- Sanitation - Sewage & Storm Water Pipeline network to be created
- Waste Collection - Regular cleaning and waste collection to be done by PMC
- Construct civic amenities: Gardens & Community Centers
- Increase transparency and resident involvement in all local planning and execution
- Remove Encroachments and Electricty Poles from the middle of the road at Kad Nagar, which pose a risk to travellers.
We have waited 7 years—that’s long enough. We demand equal civic rights, accountability, and basic urban dignity.
