WE CAN CLOSE THE VOIDS LOOPHOLES.
This legislative session is drawing to a close, and with your help we can get this done in the "June Frenzy."
Please, we need you to call Senator Kavanagh and Assemblyman Cymbrowitz NOW!
*Please call your own Assemblymember and Senator too, and urge them to co-sponsor this legislation!
.
*State Senator Brian Kavanagh 518-455-2625 or 212-298-5565
*State Assemblyman Steven Cymbrowitz 518-455-5214 or 718-743-4078

Ask them to move Senate Bill S2016 and Assembly Bill A2128 out of committee before this legislative session ends in June.
These bills will close certain loopholes developers have been abusing in order to build "supertall" buildings in your neighborhoods.
Suggested brief message:
I am calling to ask that you move Senate bill S2016 / Assembly bill A2128 out of committee and onto the floor for a vote this session. This bill will close loopholes that developers have been abusing and hold them accountable to the intent of the underlying zoning law. It's important that this legislation pass this session! I am one of over 7000 citizens who have signed a petition in support of this legislation!
*Leaving a message is fine. Leaving a message with their Legislative Director is even better.*

About these bills:
You may think a 15-story building going up in your neighborhood won’t be so bad. But what is the height of a floor? Ten feet? Twenty feet? What if the building includes multiple mechanical voids? Each void (not counted in FAR) can add 25 feet in residential areas and a developer can add more as long as they are separated by 75 feet. Some developers have even designed stilts inside the building’s core — all this to jack up the height of the upper floors so they will command higher and higher prices.
These two bills will limit such “no count” spaces and hold developers accountable to the intent of the underlying zoning.
