As a passionate follower of college football, I have witnessed year after year the questionable decisions made by the College Football Playoffs Committee. The lack of clarity and consistency in their selection process leaves coaches, players, and fan bases in limbo about what it takes to secure a playoff berth. This year was particularly egregious - for the first time ever, an undefeated Power 5 team was excluded from playoffs. A team that had resorted and admitted to cheating was included instead. And shockingly, a #1 ranked team dropped out of top 4 due to a conference title loss to a top 4 team.

The current system is flawed and needs immediate rectification. We propose an emergency amendment that extends the bracket by two teams. This will provide more opportunities for deserving teams who have worked tirelessly throughout the season, and it will seek to remedy the selection committee’s gutless selection process. 

According to ESPN's Playoff Predictor (2021), there are always at least six teams with over a 20% chance of making it into playoffs each season - clearly indicating that four slots are simply not enough. Just a year ago, the expanded bracket - something demanded for years - was on the table. The Selection Committee and the NCAA can and should implement this expanded bracket prior to this year’s playoffs.

We cannot allow ulterior motives or conflicts of interest continue to mar this beloved sport's integrity and fairness. It's high time we demand transparency and justice in college football playoffs selection process.
