Demand Amazon to Enable Giftcard Purchases for Third-Party Services

The issue

I recently found myself in a bewildering situation. In an act of excitement, I spent $150 on an Amazon gift card, intending to use it to purchase a Meta Quest gift card. However, upon trying to make the transaction, I discovered to my dismay that Amazon's policies currently prevent users from buying third-party gift cards using Amazon gift cards. This, to put it mildly, is an aggravating situation, as this policy was not explicitly evident and those funds are now tied to a specific platform.

Regrettably, my experience is not unique. There are countless other consumers who may find themselves trapped with platform-bound funds due to this policy. Data is scant on this subject, but anecdotes culled from countless online forums suggest this is a widespread issue.

This policy results in customers not having complete freedom over how they want to utilize their funds once they are locked into Amazon's ecosystem; it is against the principles of autonomy and fairness. Consumers should have the liberty to buy Xbox, PlayStation, Meta, Uber, and other gift cards using their Amazon gift card.

We must raise our voices to amend this policy and ensure transparency in terms of usage with digital purchases. We are calling on Amazon to allow its patrons to use Amazon gift cards to purchase third-party service gift cards. Each signature on this petition is a vote for consumer flexibility, fairness, and transparency.

Take a stand against restrictive policies. Join us in calling upon Amazon to change this policy for the betterment of its customers. Please sign this petition.
