Seeing Pigeons with bleeding limbs or completely missing limbs is a heartbreaking sight, especially when one might mistakenly assume these injuries are due to disease. In reality, these injuries and wounds are caused by metal, needle-sharp bird spikes installed on high-rise buildings etc by councils and high-rise and listed property owners. These spikes inflict severe pain and suffering on these birds, leaving them crippled and vulnerable.

Metal bird spikes are often seen as a simple, effective solution to the problem of Pigeons nesting in unwanted areas. However, the real cost is the immense suffering of birdlife and the unpleasant and unsightly images of injured Pigeons in our towns and cities. This method is not only inhumane but outdated, with several humane and effective alternatives available!

There are solutions such as bird netting, electric strips, or even creating bird-friendly spaces that discourage nesting in unsightly areas through natural deterrents. Each of these methods offers a more compassionate approach, reflecting a community that respects and protects its wildlife.

Encouragingly, cities like New York and London have successfully implemented more humane methods, proving that we can cohabitate harmoniously with Pigeons and Wild birds without causing them harm. With innovative solutions at our disposal, why do we still rely on barbaric methods that kill and maim Wild birds?

This petition-share calls upon councils and high-rise and listed property owners to review their current practices and consider alternative solutions that prioritize humane treatment of Pigeons and Wild birds. It's time to modernize our attitudes towards Urban Wildlife Management.
