Demand Alberta Government to Allow Direct-to-Consumer B.C. Wine Shipping

The Issue

I am a resident of Sherwood Park, AB, Canada and a firm believer in the importance of inter-province trade. Recently, the Alberta Government sent a letter to all B.C. wineries directing them to stop "Direct to Consumer shipping" or face a total ban on B.C. wines coming into Alberta by the Alberta government.

This will affect most of the B.C. wineries which are small family run  boutique wineries that sell most of their wines through their club memberships. This potential ban by the Alberta government could not come at a worst time for these small wineries. They have suffered two years of killing frost which has wiped out large numbers of vineyards, road closures due to forest fires and landslides which stopped tourist from coming to their wineries to buy wine. There is no rational for the letter sent out or for the threat of a ban as Alberta has no wine industry to protect.

By signing this petition, you will be supporting small family boutique wine producers at a critical time. Join me and let us stop the Government of Alberta overreach that restricts direct-to-consumer shipping from B.C.
