REGISTER TO VOTE DAY Statement from Joaquin Cruz Castillo #TruthAndRoots English Version — Your Voice, Your Truth Today, Orange County is reminded that the right to vote is not just a civic duty — it is the only protection we have from the outside. Systems can fail us. Agencies can overlook us. Families can be left alone to fight battles they never asked for. But our vote is the one place where our voice cannot be ignored. Voting is not about choosing a color. Voting is not about choosing a side. Voting is about choosing a person — someone who understands the families who have been forgotten along the road. For years, I have lived through systems that did not see me, did not hear me, and did not protect my children. And that is exactly why voting matters. Because democracy is not a privilege — it is a mandate. It is the responsibility we carry to choose leaders who will represent us with honesty, accountability, and humanity. We can protect each other. We can stand together. But at the end, the only protection we have from the outside is the power of our vote. Today, I encourage every resident of Orange County to register, to participate, and to remember that your vote is your shield. Your vote is your voice. Your vote is your right.
