Parents for Accountability in Orange County Courts, representing the broader community effort known as #OCRecall2026, would like to make the following statement.
Our coalition is composed of parents, caregivers, and community members who have united around a shared concern: the need for greater transparency, consistency, and accountability within the Orange County court system. Our advocacy is grounded in documented experiences and the real challenges families face when navigating the courts.
Recent public remarks by Chief Justice Patricia Guerrero have been widely interpreted as addressing grassroots accountability movements, including efforts such as #OCRecall2026. For that reason, it is important to clearly articulate what our coalition stands for.
Parents for Accountability in Orange County Courts and #OCRecall2026 do not engage in personal attacks, threats, or hostile rhetoric toward any judicial officer.
Our work is focused on systemic issues, procedural inconsistencies, and the lived experiences of families who have struggled to obtain fair and timely treatment. Raising concerns about judicial conduct or administrative failures is not an attack on the judiciary — it is a legitimate and necessary exercise of civic participation.
Families who come forward do so because they have encountered delays, inconsistent processes, and decisions that have deeply affected their children and their stability. These concerns are not “negative rhetoric.” They are real experiences that deserve acknowledgment and meaningful attention.
Our coalition respects the constitutional role of the courts. At the same time, we firmly believe that public institutions must remain open to scrutiny, especially when their decisions directly impact families, safety, and due process. Accountability is not a threat to judicial independence; it is a safeguard that strengthens public trust.
We welcome constructive dialogue with judicial leadership. We support reforms that improve access, fairness, and transparency. What we cannot accept is the implication that community members who speak about their experiences are undermining democracy. On the contrary, democracy depends on the public’s ability to question, challenge, and seek accountability from those who hold authority — including the courts.
Parents for Accountability in Orange County Courts and #OCRecall2026 will continue to advocate respectfully, lawfully, and firmly for a court system that treats families with dignity, provides clear and consistent procedures, and upholds the principles of fairness that the judiciary itself has pledged to protect.
Thank you.
