As a veterinary student and an animal lover, it's heart-wrenching for me to witness the cruel treatment of animals. The case of Jaime Leigh Duncan-Moore's abuse toward her dog, Nala, left me utterly aghast and sickened. I watched the gut-wrenching video of Duncan-Moore tormenting Nala, who was clearly in agonising pain - a sight no living being should endure. It's a disgraceful act of violence against an innocent creature and a flagrant display of neglect and animal mistreatment.

The state of Missouri unfortunately ranks low in animal protection laws, securing the 36th spot in the nation according to the Animal Legal Defense Fund's rank of states. This is a horrifying reality that must change, starting with legal consequences for those like Jaime Leigh Duncan-Moore who openly mistreat animals they are responsible for.

We call on the Callaway County sheriffs office and the state of Missouri to intervene. It's high time that Duncan-Moore faces the repercussions of her actions. We demand the police prosecute Duncan-Moore to the fullest extent of the law for her alleged animal abuse. Further, we request that Nala be immediately taken from Duncan-Moore's possession and be placed in a safe, caring environment where she can live without fear or harm.

We have a responsibility to protect those who cannot protect themselves. Let's prove that animal abuse will not be tolerated and that those guilty of such crimes will face stern penalties.
