Dear Petitioners,
With your dedicated support we have achieved well over 2000 signatures and a steady stream of promotions. We are grateful! Please continue to post and share this important petition and we'll get the count as high as possible!
Canada is generally well-respected on the world stage, but the Canadian Food Inspection Agency is giving this country a very conspicuous black eye. Our decision-makers must do everything they can to rein in the CFIA and their heavy-handed approach.
Please take a moment to contact Prime Minister Mark Carney, Health Minister Hon. Marjorie Michel, and Agriculture Minister Hon. Heath MacDonald with your concerns. One email copied to all three should suffice: mark.carney@parl.gc.ca, marjorie.michel@parl.gc.ca, and heath.macdonald@parl.gc.ca. Also please copy your own Member of Parliament. A list of MPs can be found here: https://www.ourcommons.ca/Members/en/search
Please consider the following points and always make sure that your correspondence to our decision makers remains respectful and based on facts:
1)Ban the cruel exports of live horses by air for slaughter (more information here: https://canadianhorsedefencecoalition.org/ The CFIA continues to allow laws to be broken and horses to suffer. The agency's ruthless, unlawful approach must be stopped!
2)Direct the CFIA to conduct testing on the Edgewood ostriches rather than resorting to the loose cannon method, the "stamping out" policy. See comments by Dr. Jeff Wilson, veterinarian, epidemiologist and President of Novometrix Research: https://www.globalresearch.ca/questions-canadian-ministers-responsible-ostrich-policy-british-columbia/5901555 - click on video.
Note: Canadian citizens and residents of Canada can add their voice to an official parliamentary e-petition concerning the ostriches: https://www.ourcommons.ca/petitions/en/Petition/Details?Petition=e-6857&fbclid=IwY2xjawNOLG5leHRuA2FlbQIxMABicmlkETFZRkpkSWNDMExLR2FtQXBPAR5ia0Eq4ZA4noXFAd9MYdY-cxcjvAjud4lEQL0KC8XpM7RfbrgliSDrCQN2Qw_aem_sNA-lUY15jqf9ea51mnNTg This petition is quickly gaining momentum and is sponsored by MP Scott Anderson.
Thank you all for your wonderful advocacy and your support!
