Demand Accountability from Airline Companies and TSA

Demand Accountability from Airline Companies and TSA
The Issue
As an individual who deeply identifies with the aggravations of modern air travel, I stand before you today, compelled to initiate this petition. United States airlines have evolved into a nightmare of unrest. A simple search on YouTube will furnish a library of evidence showcasing the unpleasant experiences travellers undergo. The harsh reality of disrespectful staff, overbooking of flights, and even escalating violence within high-security zones such as airports and onboard active flights paints a dismal picture.
Overbooking, in particular, has seen an uptick. It isn't just about inconvenience; it fundamentally disregards passengers' needs, disrupts plans, and heightens stress levels. Coupled with insufficient notification times for delays, passengers find themselves in trying circumstances time and again. Matters are worse for those with mental health issues, who are groaning under the burden of improper handling and sheer insensitivity.
Moreover, certain policies, such as those incentivising gate agents to measure carry-on bags, only serve to fuel passenger discomfort. This, tied with the increasing accounts of misconduct by FAA and TSA employees, warrants immediate intervention. We demand that the mannerisms and professional behavior of these employees be given paramount priority.
It is disheartening that despite transport by air being a lucrative industry in the US, contributing approximately $1.6 trillion to the GDP annually as per the Federal Aviation Administration, passenger experience, dignity, and rights often take a backseat. It is high time the airline companies and TSA accept responsibility, end inappropriate practises, respect passengers' rights, and improve their overall treatment.
By signing this petition, we are urging for increased accountability of airline companies and TSA in ensuring a travel experience that respects passenger rights, prioritizes proper handling, and condemns unethical practices like overbooking. Let us not stand by as these issues continue to soar. Your signature can make a difference. Sign today.
