The Issue

In our tight-knit community of Anderson County, Kentucky, we pride ourselves on coming together in times of need. This past week, a concerning event unfolded that challenges the very core of our shared values of public safety and human decency. As someone who deeply cares about the safety of our residents, I was appalled by the actions of a City Chief who chose bureaucracy over humanity.

When a desperate call came through for a choking four-year-old, a County firefighter acted swiftly to respond and dispatch for a child's life. Instead of being met with gratitude and appreciation, the County Chief received a complaint about jurisdiction lines by the City Chief. This response is not only disappointing but reflects a blatant disregard for human life.  This is not the first time and needs immediate attention.

Our first responders, who risk their own lives daily to ensure we sleep soundly at night, deserve our unwavering support and respect. It is disheartening to see anyone put protocol above a precious human life, especially that of a child in distress.

We believe that the behavior exhibited by the City Chief is unacceptable and undermines the spirit of cooperation that is essential for effective emergency response. Such actions are dangerous and create a hostile environment for the noble individuals who put themselves in harm's way for our community.

We are calling for the immediate resignation or removal of any official, including the City Chief, who prioritizes jurisdiction over human life. It's time for our community leaders to act with integrity and demonstrate that public safety is our ultimate priority.

Please join our call for action to ensure that those entrusted with public safety in Anderson County truly value and uphold their duties. Let's stand together to demand accountability and foster a community where the safety and well-being of our residents come above all else.

Sign this petition to make our voices heard and to reaffirm our commitment to the safety of everyone in Anderson County.
