Demand Accountability for Bowmanville's First Masjid

The Issue

As a concerned citizen and parent, my heart aches as I detail a story resonating with many in our community. Our children, who currently attend school in the rental musalla, are now left with nowhere to go as the new management along with it's three directors and one chief advisor have started to dismantle it. We were promised our community will get the Bowmanville's First Masjid, a sanctuary where our children could continue their school of Islamic education that is currently being housed in a rental property.

Our Bowmanville community was promised:

1 - that the current school will continue into the new building, Why are they not upholding their promise?
2 - that current imam  will continue to be our imam when we move into the new building, Why are they not upholding their promise?
3 - that the house adjacent to the new building will have the imam's accommodation, Why are they not upholding their promise?
4 - that the new building will be the new home for all of programs and personnel currently in operation at the rental musalla, now they said "Nothing from AlHakeem (the rental musalla) will transfer over" to the new building. Why are they not allowing us to move into the new building?
5 - That the borrowed charity from Courtice will transfer the new building to Bowmanville community, now why is the borrowed charity  occupying our building that Bowmanville community helped pay for?

After raising funds from our generous community and taking possession of the property, they now distance themselves from us and all their commitments, leaving our children's educational future hanging in the balance. We were promised a permanent Masjid, an establishment that should have cemented our children's Islamic values and contributed to nurturing their faith. Now, our children and we, are left with broken promises.

This issue extends beyond just the educational prospects of our children. It strikes at the heart of trust, a basic element needed for community cohesion. Therefore, we implore those responsible to demand to honor their commitments to the Bowmanville Muslim communities and allow our current school and all current programs and personnel to carry forth as initially promised. We all contributed towards this project, and as such, we deserve transparency and fulfillment of the commitments made to us.

Our community's unity and strength remains unrivaled, and together we can ensure our children have the Islamic education they deserve. Stand with us and sign this petition. Let's ensure accountability and a better future for our children.
