My personal experience with Sky Lakes Medical Center has been nothing short of horrifying. Once, I was left waiting in the emergency room with a concussion for a staggering 10 hours. On another occasion, my feeding tube had fallen out - a time-sensitive matter - yet the urgency of the situation was completely disregarded. Even worse, I contracted a sepsis infection due to the sheer negligence of the medical staff. As a patient suffering from Crohn's disease, I faced numerous challenges, including failure to thrive and painful fissures. However, an incorrect diagnosis from a hospitalist hampered my access to appropriate treatment.

It's time for Sky Lakes Medical Center to be held accountable for their actions, and to bring about necessary changes in their practices. The emergency department desperately needs a 24-hour urgent care facility to address the unacceptable patient waiting times, which can harshly extend upto 8 hours or more. In addition, there must be systems in place to hold doctors accountable for misdiagnosis and subsequent patient harm. When patients request that mistakes on charts be corrected, the doctors should comply instead of causing drawn out procedures.
