Goldman Sachs forecasts that 85% of US car sales will be EVs by 2040. This will significantly reduce oil demand and destroy Canadian tarsands oil export (since it almost exclusively goes to the US). Yet the Pathways Alliance is aggressively lobbying the government not to put limits on oil production. They know very well that they only have a decade to maximize dividends to their shareholders. 

Their Net Zero by 2050 claim is as reliable as the 2010 claim that tailing ponds would be cleaned within a decade. 

From Environmental Defence: "Despite over 50 years of technological innovations for oil sand mining development, no single operator has determined a safe and stable reclamation approach to oil sands tailings ponds. "

  I believe the same will be true for "Net Zero" work.
