Demand a public apology from Gina Rinehart & Sky News for transphobic report!
The issue
On June 5th 2024, Sky News Australia reported that St Hilda’s Anglican Girls School in Perth was pushing radical gender ideology onto students.
Caroline Marcus, Senior Reporter for Sky News Australia, stated that concerns at the school have reached a tipping point over the hire of a transgender Math teacher – Ms Brooke Dunn - this year, alongside an unnamed non-binary teacher.
Gina Rinehart is quoted as supporting an Australian version of ‘Moms for America’ (an officially designated anti-government extremist group) to tackle the ‘woke, anti-Australia propaganda’ that she poses makes up one-third of school curriculums.
They also highlight the Pride assembly held by the school in 2023 that parents were not invited to attend and state that students are being told to “compromise their boundaries” by being asked to respect Ms Dunn’s gender identity.
The news story also made comment regarding ‘biological males who haven’t undergone gender reassignment could self-identify as women and gain access to female-only spaces’ regarding the abolishment of the Gender Reassignment Board announced earlier in 2024.
The report spreads dangerous misinformation and transphobia. It encourages families to take action against the school which are right-wing and transphobic.
Please sign this petition calling for both Sky News and Gina Rinehart to make a public apology to Ms Brooke Dunn for both publicly outing her as transgender, and for Sky News Australia to remove the article from their media channels.
Sky News Australia consistently uses it’s media power to attack and demonise minorities and act as a fearmonger for average Australians. They prioritise reporting their conservative ideologies over fact, to deliberately misinform the public.
Please sign this petition to send a message to Sky News Australia that ethical journalism standards are important to Australians and to help secure a public apology for the affected teachers.
