Demand a Full Audit and Investigation of Claremore Utility Company

The Issue

We, the undersigned residents and concerned citizens of Claremore, Oklahoma, respectfully submit this petition to call for an immediate and comprehensive audit of the Claremore Utility Company. We are deeply concerned about the recent and substantial increases in utility prices, which we believe to be unjust and indicative of potential price gouging. These price hikes have placed an undue financial burden on the residents and businesses of Claremore, making it difficult for many to afford essential services.


Furthermore, we request a thorough investigation into allegations that certain city officials may be receiving kickbacks from the utility company. These serious allegations undermine public trust and raise concerns about the integrity and transparency of our local government.


Our petition seeks the following actions:


 1. Independent Audit of Claremore Utility Company:
 • A full and transparent audit of the utility company’s financial records, pricing structures, and billing practices to determine the legitimacy of recent price increases.
 • Examination of any discrepancies or irregularities in financial statements and transactions.
 2. Investigation of Alleged Kickbacks:
 • A comprehensive investigation into claims that city officials may be receiving improper payments or benefits from the utility company.
 • Public disclosure of the findings to ensure accountability and restore public confidence in our local government.
 3. Implementation of Corrective Measures:
 • Based on the audit and investigation results, we demand the implementation of appropriate corrective actions, including but not limited to the revision of utility rates, reimbursement to overcharged customers, and disciplinary actions against any officials found guilty of misconduct.
 4. Increased Transparency and Accountability:
 • Adoption of policies to enhance transparency in the operations of the Claremore Utility Company and the city government, including regular public reporting and independent oversight mechanisms.
