Australian Pathology have gained 40,000 emails by encouraging every pathology patient in the last 3 months to support their campaign or be faced with the future they painted through disguised marketing, the government was introducing Gap Fees to Bulk Billed Pathology Tests. Only once the concerns for the marketing was highlighted to ACCC that we saw the truth being told. The truth is that Private Pathology got the taste for higher profits with a once in a lifetime environment with the Government Funding granted to support the PCR Testing for Covid. Private Pathology are publicly listed companies who rely on their profit being compared to previous years. There is no common sense being used here. 

Meanwhile the industry is in crisis with a Staff and Skills Shortage that the Private Pathology Companies are refusing to acknowledge, let alone engage with Peak Body, The Phlebotomists Council of Australia to address collaboratively. The workers need an increase to survive! 

We will continue to support this increase past the Federal Budget announcement and until we see a change to the way that Private Pathology are eligible for Commonwealth Funds.
