As part of our 9% TO PAY THE RENT Campaign we have been reaching out to all Members of Parliament and informing them of the crisis facing the People in Pathology.

We received the response from one MP that there was $3.6 Billion in Medicare funds paid to Private Pathology in 2022/2023. We know that none of these funds made it to the hardworking healthcare heroes on the frontline patient facing roles.

We have lost so many of our skilled workforce due to the undervalued wage that is being offered, many people who are collecting blood samples now are unqualified and undertrained. Private Pathology are working with shonky RTO's to undertrain, ensure there is a "bum on a seat" so they can validate the rent from the medical practice they are within and put workers into situations they are not given the correct tools for.

Anyone who appreciates a skilled Phlebotomists can picture the standard of service crisis that the Pathology Sector is facing. We are the next Aged Care sector, yet do not need the investment of the Royal Commission, just some of the relevant recommendations applied to our sector, most importantly, Education and Valued Wages.

Please give the Phlebotomists a real push into the spotlight, we are trying to get the attention of the media, yet they are too engrossed with the Aged Care Sector win, they don't want to raise another healthcare sector in crisis. We are about to do a large mail out to doctors and ask them to pass out our support pamphlets when they give out blood test referrals. We need some financial support to assist with printing and posting, if you can help, please go to this link: https://the-pca.square.site/donate
