The nurse pictured, Saber Alaoui, was fired on Monday 4/13/20 from Alameda Health Systems Highland Hospital, Telemetry/Oncology unit, after reporting to his Union that he was refused the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to use during his shift for one of his patients with an infectious disease, even thought it was available. He reported this to his union to protect himself, co-workers, other patients, his family, and the community. Not only did he lose his job but and health benefits as well - his wife is currently receiving Chemotherapy, and now has no way to pay for it.

All Saber was asking for was PPE to wear when going into an infectious disease room to protect himself from spreading this disease to himself, coworkers, other patients, his immunocompromised wife, and the community. He did what he had to do to protect himself, but he was a whistle blower to the Union he was fired. Please sign this petition to have AHS give him his job and healthcare benefits back so his wife can continue her chemotherapy and he can continue to be a good nurse and provide for his family.
