Delhi NCR: Online Classes Only if AQI is more than 200

The Issue

Request Government/ Authorities to Consider :

  1. Closing the schools or switch to online classes only if AQI is greater than 200.
  2. Declare November, December, January as self regulated attendance months. Parents can decide to send their kids to school as per AQI on particular day.
  3. If nothing is possible, then at least remove attendance compulsion and let each parent decide, if they wish to expose their children to poisonous air.

Ultimately, the responsibility of the welfare of kids lies you, the parents. Government and Authorities can only provide/ make provisions for infrastructure, regulations, etc.

Please share further to gain more signatures. If parents do not unite, the kids will have to suffer.

Impact of AQI on Kids Going to School

  1. Delhi Air Pollution is hazardous for kids.
  2. AQI is at its worst in the morning at school going time.
  3. Let kids not breathe poisonous air. They  still have long to live.
  4. If it's 399 and not 400, it does not mean it is safe.
  5. We can't control whether pollution is due to parali or vehicle or construction but at least let parents control the risk to their child.
  6. Most of the schools are not air conditioned.
  7. And can we really expect the kids to wear masks all day?
  8. No point killing our children slowly in name of education. If they have healthy life, they will get education as well.
  9. Why everyone suddenly remembers healthy life in middle age and old age only?
  10. Sending to school in severe AQI is equivalent to smoking 25-30 cigarettes. 'Equal to 25-30 cigarettes': Medanta doctor alerts expecting parents amid 'severe' Delhi AQI
  11. This smog season is no more sudden. It is a very predictable phenomenon happening at this time of year. So why not make long term policies around it? Why subject kids to mercy of probabilities and indecisions?
