So a few weeks ago we went on a rescue mission to a factory farm for caged hens, and as usual we were determined to take every single hen and leave none behind as any left behind will just be killed and never get to see the outside world.
Well there ended up being extra (more than the charity expected) but we would not leave them of course so all of the vans ended up taking extra. Then at the end there were 4 hens left over still. As we were stood outside holding them and debating if anyone can take them, the farm owner grabbed the chickens and took them back into the barn. So myself (AGAIN!) and my friend who coordinates the rescue days decided to go back inside with boxes and got them out of there and we took them home! Long story short we rescued every single hen from that one farm that was due to be killed this year. All together since January we have rehomed over 11,000!
Then a couple of weeks ago on a rehoming day, when we go back to our farm and wait for the adopters to turn up, Russell Brand came with his wife to adopt another 5! I hope with his fame he can help to educate more people on the truths of farming these days. I think we are all doing an amazing job and I feel inspired to keep fighting knowing that I am not alone.
