ACT NOW: let MPs know you want easier access to affordable cannabidiol (CBD)
In early 2020 the Australian Senate asked the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) to ‘consult broadly’ with the public on a range of options to make CBD and other non-psychoactive medicinal cannabinoids more easily accessible and affordable, due to a strong public plea for legal access.
Instead, the TGA narrowly consulted the public on its own preferred option, in a way that was not fully transparent or easy for the public to understand. The TGA also did not explain that its option will make little difference to current restrictive access barriers.
Despite overwhelming (>95%) support for alternative options that would make CBD products easier to access and more affordable, the TGA is instead set to ignore public opinion and formally adopt its own proposal.
