Have you seen this now well-watched video of opposition leader Bill Shorten talking about medicinal cannabis?
Here's some of what Bill had to say:
- The TGA system in Australia makes it almost impossible to access the medicine and is too long and too cumbersome;
- That Canada has a much better system;
- That parents shouldn't remain criminals if they want to alleviate the pain of their children;
- That the Australian Government has been too slow.
Bill Shorten says if he a child who had severe epilepsy or if a loved one was in severe pain and the doctor or the patient felt that cannabis oil would be of assistance he too would break the law if necessary.
Clearly, the two major parties have differing views on medicinal cannabis. We think the upcoming federal election is a referendum on empathy, on understanding that ending this unnecessary pain and suffering of terminally ill people means we have to #FixDansLaw.
Bill Shorten himself says he'd break the law for his children. Bill, you don't have to break the law - just fix it.
#FixDansLaw.
