Since launching the #FixDansLaw campaign, 20,000 new people signed our petition. And the politicians are actually listening!
While we're not entirely satisfied with Shadow Health Minister Catherine King's response yesterday, it's certainly a start. Right now, we need you to share this petition to grow the pressure:
Here's what Catherine said in the Northern Daily Leader:
'Labor is concerned that the government has been slow to implement the national scheme for medicinal cannabis, and will keep pressure on them to roll it out urgently.
'We are particularly concerned that the government has done little to ensure a consistent supply of regulated and affordable product, or to drive consistency across states on the legal treatment of people currently accessing medicinal cannabis.'
The trouble is, the present Government does have a 'National Scheme,' but it's failing dismally. After three years of legislation change, only around 2,000 patients have managed to access a legal supply. Compare this to Germany for example which began a year later than us and which has approved around 68,000 prescriptions.
So please, let's continue to lobby. Please share this petition today and visit the #FixDansLaw homepage on the UIC website for more ways you can help get things sorted, hopefully once and for all.
