Decrease Cost of Hot Lunch in Schools and Increase Portion Sizes

The Issue

Growing up, I've had friends from families that could barely afford a proper lunch. I would end up giving my lunch up to them, but getting a second lunch was not allowed. It's heartbreaking to see children go hungry during school hours when they should be focusing on learning and growing.

Many families struggle to afford the cost of school lunches, which can range from $2.50 to $3.00 per meal in public schools (source: School Nutrition Association). For low-income families, this adds up quickly and can become a significant financial burden.

Additionally, the portion sizes often do not meet the nutritional needs of growing children. According to the USDA, many students are still hungry after eating their school-provided meals because portions are too small (source: USDA Food and Nutrition Service).

We need to ensure that all students have access to affordable and adequately portioned hot lunches so they can thrive academically and physically. Please sign this petition to urge our local school boards and government officials to decrease the cost of hot lunches in schools while increasing portion sizes for our children's well-being!
