Hi everyone
The petition is ticking along and we hope to have it tabled in parliament in the near future. Meanwhile, many Australian councils are showing far more responsible leadership than our federal government.
Tomorrow (Wednesday) is a day to put pressure on the government using social media. The Pacific Islands forum was disastrous, and was followed by the grossly inappropriate and arrogant comments made by the Deputy PM:
"[I] get a little bit annoyed when we have people in those sorts of countries pointing the finger at Australia and say we should be shutting down all our resources sector so that they will continue to survive," he said.
"They will continue to survive, there's no question they will continue to survive, they will continue to survive with large aid assistance from Australia.
"They will continue to survive because many of their workers come here and pick our fruit."
Tomorrow at 3pm, we need to tweet or post with the hashtag #climateactionnow and tag @scottmorrisonmp. We need to demand justice for Pacific Islander. We need climate action immediately.
PS: if you haven’t already signed the Hornsby council petition, please do. They are voting on a climate emergency on September 18.
Keep making noise! There is change afoot.
