The Issue

As a junior in high school, I have an exceedingly hard time finishing my assignments on time with the removal of WIN time. It is difficult to manage time when you are in four IB classes and an AP,  having practice every day at 4:00 pm,  being the leader of a club, and having a job. The removal of WIN time for Tools for Success has forced many students to do the majority of their schoolwork at home, creating a very strenuous schedule of waking up at 6:00 AM and going to bed around 1:00 AM. Not only has the removal of WIN time negatively impacted students, but the addition of Tools for Success worsens the situation. Tools for Success consistently requires students to do useless assignments that are just graded busywork. This interferes with study time and adds more work to worry about. Additionally, it makes it exceedingly more challenging to make up missed assignments from absences, considering you can only go to another class one day a week. The school claims that WIN time is not removed, which to an extent is true because we have it once a week. However, the school frequently removes WIN time multiple times a month. Every last week of the month, we do not have WIN time due to half-days. The school will remove win time for pep rallies, class meetings, and the week before break. In the entire month of December 2024, there was only one day of WIN time. One day of WIN time is not enough.

The way Tools for Success is organized is not sufficiently thought out. Teachers do not have a curriculum, making it impossible to teach. Additionally, they get sent the lesson plan roughly an hour before the class. Teachers also lost planning time that they would use WIN time for, creating rushed lesson plans for their primary subject.
