Today, Ponce's Law was filed and is now officially a "house bill" sponsored by State Rep. Tom Leek and co-sponsored by many other state representatives, senators, and organizations. If passed, it will become effective in July, 2018, and it will put any abuser that abuses, tortures, or kills an animal in jail when convicted. It will also keep them from owning, having contact, etc with any other animals at the court's discretion. You can go online to myfloridahouse.gov and look under the "bills" tab and then type in 473 which is the number associated with the bill named Ponce's Law.
